Outgoing city shelter chief hired at Jacksonville Humane Society

Nikki Harris, the city animal shelter director who submitted her resignation while under fire last month, has been hired by the Jacksonville Humane Society. Harris will fill the recently vacated practice and outreach director position at the society’s animal hospital, Denise Deisler, executive director of the society, said Thursday. She leaves the city job Wednesday and starts at the society Oct. 12, Deisler said. “We’re jazzed that she is joining us,” Deisler said. “The timing worked out well.” read more ......
